Confession
I turned to Him, as if for the first time again, with sorrow and fear in my heart, knowing what my actions deserved, wanting to hide, but knowing that He knew already. So I told Him. I braced for impact, knowing that if He was pleased to strike me dead where I stood, He would be in the right. Yet, after a few moments of suspense, nothing happened. Hardly daring to hope, I checked myself. Still breathing. Heart still beating. Neurons firing. Then I heard a voice echo through the darkness, ancient and grand, yet gentle: "Why are you so far away? Come nearer."
